Silent Farewell
In the stillness of the night,
I whisper a tearful goodbye.
No words can express the pain,
As I watch the light fade from your eyes.
We knew this day would come,
But it arrived too soon, too fast.
I’m not ready to let you go,
To face a future, where you’re just a past.
Your hand grows cold in mine,
Your breath, a fading whisper.
I cling to every last moment,
As your life slips away, like a dying ember.
I want to scream, to beg, to plead,
For just one more day, one more hour.
But fate is cruel, unyielding,
And death, an unrelenting power.
So I sit here, by your side,
Holding back the flood of tears.
Trying to memorize every detail,
Of the face I’ve loved for years.
I brush your hair, caress your cheek,
And place a gentle kiss upon your brow.
I want to tell you everything,
But the words are stuck, somehow.
How do I say goodbye,
To the one who held my heart?
How do I find the strength,
To let you go, to be apart?
