The Truth about Love and Hate

Love and hate are two sides of the same coin,
They both can make you feel and make you blind,
They both can heal and hurt, create and destroy,
They both can give and take, free and bind,
They both can grow and fade, inspire and annoy,
They both can be gentle and cruel, calm and wild.

They can be wild with passion and with rage,
They can ignite a fire in your soul and in your heart,
They can consume you whole or leave you in a cage,
They can make you whole or tear you apart,
They can be a blessing or a curse, a boon or a bane,
They can be a joy or a pain, a start or an end.

They can be an end of a journey or a chapter,
They can mark a closure or an opening,
They can bring a peace or a disaster,
They can lead to acceptance or to suffering,
They can be a lesson or a mistake, a wisdom or a folly,
They can be a gift or a burden, a freedom or a duty.

They can be a duty that you fulfill or resent,
They can oblige you to act or to refrain,
They can compel you to consent or dissent,
They can constrain you to conform or to rebel,
They can be an obligation or a choice, a must or a may,
They can be an honor or a shame, a stay or a go.

They can make you go far or near, high or low,
They can motivate you to explore or to settle,
They can influence you to grow or to slow,
They can challenge you to improve or to meddle,
They can be a force or a weakness, a push or a pull,
They can be an energy or a drain, a full or an empty.

They can make you feel empty or complete, lost or found,
They can fill your life with meaning or with void,
They can guide your way with light or with sound,
They can steer your path with fate or with choice,
They can be an emotion or a state, a noun or a verb,
They can be an action or a thought, a word or a silence.

This is what they are, love and hate, word and silence,
This is what they do, love and hate, full and empty,
This is how they feel, love and hate, pull and push,
This is why they exist, love and hate, stay and go,
This is where they belong, love and hate, may and must,
This is when they matter, love and hate, start and end.
