The Tapestry We Weave

These walls we build —
brick by bitter brick,
mortar mixed with pride and fear —
they cast long shadows on both sides.

See how the light fragments
through our fractured lens,
painting false enemies
in colors of our choosing.

But stand back far enough
and witness:
We are threads in the same cloth,
each strand strengthening the whole.

Like rivers joining oceans,
like roots beneath the forest floor
silently sharing life’s secrets —
we are more alike than different.

Our battles leave us bloodied,
yet the blood runs red for all.
Our tears fall clear and sacred,
salt-blessing the common ground.

Listen:
The wind carries no anthem,
the rain falls on all gardens,
the sun warms every face
without checking sides.

Our children’s laughter
speaks one language.
Their dreams soar past
our carefully drawn borders.

What strength we waste
in guarding differences —
when combined, our light
could pierce the darkest night.

Break down these walls.
Let the rubble become bridges.
Our real power lies not in division
but in the space between my hand and yours —

reaching,
touching,
joining,
becoming whole.
