The Koan of Chaos and Calm

--

In the garden of no-government,
A lotus blooms through cracked concrete.
Anarchy’s circle-A entwined
With Enso’s perfect incomplete.

No rulers here, yet perfect form,
As bamboo bends but does not break.
The Tao of leaderless design,
A society of give and take.

Zazen on barricades we sit,
Our minds both empty and aware.
In action through inaction, we
Dissolve the state with silent flair.

The sound of one hand toppling
Hierarchies built on shifting sand.
While in the zendo of the streets,
We cultivate ungoverned land.

Master and student roles dissolve,
As wisdom flows from each to all.
In mutual aid, we find our strength,
No power but what we freely call.

The koan of the ballot box:
What vote is cast when no one rules?
In consensus and in mindfulness,
We forge new, leaderless tools.

Our revolution’s battle cry:
A breath, a pause, a moment’s peace.
For in the space between our thoughts,
We find where all oppression ceases.

So meditate on freedom’s form,
Where chaos and calm intertwine.
In zenarchist philosophy,
The boundless self and no-self align.

From this no-state of mind springs forth
A world where all can truly be.
Liberated from within and without,
In anarchy’s tranquility.
