Prologue: The Great Divine Bureaucracy

In a fluorescent-lit celestial office tower stretching beyond mortal comprehension, the gods sat at desks piled high with paperwork. Immortals clad in tailored suits shuffled between cubicles, their divine essence dimmed by the weight of bureaucracy. It was the dawn of a new era in divine governance, one where the freewheeling days of miracles and chaos had been shackled by red tape. At the top of the hierarchy sat Fate Inc., the monolithic department responsible for the immutable threads of destiny. Every event, every life, was plotted with the precision of an actuarial chart.

But chaos doesn’t die — it festers. And no one nurtured chaos like Eris, Goddess of Discord. For centuries, she had simmered under the confines of protocol, her pranks reduced to harmless watercooler shenanigans. Until the day she stumbled upon a loophole buried deep in the Divine Accord: an overlooked clause granting her the authority to appoint her own team of “Fates” to oversee the trajectory of fools.

“Fools,” she cackled, tossing golden paper clips into the air like confetti. “The uncounted, the erratic, the beautifully absurd. Oh, they’ll do.”

With a snap of her fingers, she summoned her chosen.
