The Cave of Mautiatibuel
The sun and the moon were born in a cave,
The cave of Mautiatibuel, the son of dawn,
The lord of the dawn, the chieftain’s son,
The sun and the moon were born in a cave.
The sun rose from the cave with a golden light,
He shone on the earth with his warmth and might,
He gave life to the plants and animals and men,
He was Yocahu’s gift, he was Yocahu’s friend.
The moon emerged from the cave with a silver glow,
She followed the sun with her grace and flow,
She lit up the night with her beauty and charm,
She was Yocahu’s lover, she was Yocahu’s arm.
The sun and the moon were lovers in the sky,
They danced and they kissed as they passed by,
They filled the world with their light and love,
They were Yocahu’s children, they were Yocahu’s doves.
