Reflections: An Ally’s Mirror of Support

--

I am learning to be
The kind of mirror
That reflects you truly —
Not society’s warped glass,
Not family’s clouded lens,
Not media’s fractured frame,
But a clear pool of acceptance
Where you can see yourself
As you are meant to be seen.

I will not be the mirror
That shows what others demand,
That projects their fears,
That distorts your truth
Into their comfort zone.
Instead, I offer surfaces
Clean of preconceptions,
Wiped free of judgment,
Ready to reflect your light.

When you look into
This friendship’s glass,
May you see yourself
In perfect clarity:
Your chosen name
Shining like stars,
Your true gender
Glowing like dawn,
Your authentic self
Rising like the sun.

I cannot know your journey,
Cannot feel your dysphoria’s weight,
Cannot walk your path —
But I can be the mirror
That validates your steps,
That honors your transitions,
That celebrates your becoming.

Some days you might see
A stranger in the glass,
Some days a warrior,
Some days a work in progress —
Know that in my eyes,
You are always valid,
Always worthy,
Always whole.

I will not pretend
To understand completely,
Will not claim your struggle,
Will not center my acceptance
Over your experience.
Instead, I’ll be the mirror
That simply says:
“I see you.
I honor you.
I support you.”

When others hold up
Mirrors of denial,
Reflecting only what
They wish to see,
I will be the surface
That shows your truth:
Beautiful in your authenticity,
Powerful in your transformation,
Perfect in your journey.

Let me reflect back
Your chosen pronouns
With unwavering respect,
Your chosen name
With joyful recognition,
Your chosen path
With steady support.

I am learning to be
The kind of ally
Who knows when to speak
And when to simply reflect,
When to stand before you
And when to stand beside,
When to mirror your voice
And when to amplify it.

In this world of
Fractured reflections,
Let me be a pool of peace
Where you can see yourself
Without distortion,
Without condition,
Without fear.

You are not an image
To be corrected,
Not a reflection
To be controlled,
Not a mirror
To be shattered
By others’ expectations.

You are your own light,
Your own truth,
Your own beauty —
I am just the surface
Honored to reflect
The magnificence
Of your becoming.

May this mirror of alliance
Show you always:
Your courage in transition,
Your strength in truth,
Your beauty in authenticity,
Your right to be
Exactly who you are.

And when the world’s mirrors
Turn dark with hatred,
Remember that you are seen,
You are supported,
You are celebrated
In countless pools of acceptance,
In countless hearts of allies,
In countless reflections
Of unconditional love.

Your truth is the light —
I am just the mirror,
Blessed to reflect
Your radiant journey
Toward yourself.
