Homework Houdini
I swear I did it, I worked all night,
Equations and essays, I got them right.
The homework’s done, it’s in my bag,
I’m ready to submit, no need to nag.
But on the bus, it took a lag,
Disappeared like magic, a vanishing act.
I search high and low, in every cranny,
But it’s nowhere to be found, not even a granny.
Homework Houdini, that’s what they call me,
A master of excuses, a legend in the spree.
“The dog ate my homework,” a classic tale,
But I’ve got a new one, that never fails.
“It was stolen by ninjas, in the dead of night,
They took my backpack, and vanished out of sight.
I chased them down, with all my might,
But they were too quick, a stealthy flight.”
My teacher’s not amused, she’s heard it all,
The tall tales and fibs, that make her want to bawl.
She shakes her head, with a heavy sigh,
“Your homework, young Houdini, is a mystery to defy.”
I hang my head, in shame and defeat,
Another excuse, another retreat.
I promise to do better, to turn a new leaf,
But deep down, I know, I’m a homework thief.
Homework Houdini, a title I bear,
A master of deception, with a flair for the rare.
But at what cost, do I play this game?
Missing assignments, and a tarnished name.
It’s time to change, to break the spell,
To do my homework, and do it well.
No more excuses, no more lies,
I’ll face my responsibilities, and rise.
So farewell, Homework Houdini, it’s been a blast,
But your tricks and tricks, are a thing of the past.
I’ll buckle down, and do what’s right,
And hand in my homework, with all my might.
For in the end, it’s not about the grade,
But the lessons learned, and the progress made.
I’ll leave the magic, to the pros on stage,
And focus on my studies, page by page.
Homework Houdini, a chapter closed,
A new beginning, a future posed.
I’ll do my best, and give it my all,
No more disappearing acts, no more stalls.
