Fragments of a Dream

I.
Cobblestone streets ascend,
Untethered from earthly bonds,
A city drifts on wisps of cloud,
Spires piercing the veil of reality.

II.
Whiskers twitch, eyes gleam with wisdom,
A tabby cat philosophizes on existence,
Its purrs resonating through the ether,
Vibrating strings of cosmic understanding.

III.
Echoes of laughter, distant yet near,
Ripple through the fabric of time,
Memories or premonitions?
Joy’s ghosts dance on the periphery.

IV.
Staircases spiral to nowhere,
Each step a different season,
Spring blooms fade to winter’s frost,
As I ascend into oblivion.

V.
Beneath a sky of liquid gold,
Trees converse in forgotten tongues,
Their leaves spelling out ancient secrets,
Rustling prophecies carried on the wind.

VI.
I reach for solidity, but grasp only mist,
The dream fragments slipping away,
Leaving behind a kaleidoscope of wonder,
And the lingering taste of impossibility.
