Footsteps in the Sand

Along the shore where sea meets land,
A trail of prints marks passage brief.
Each step a fleeting testament,
To journeys long or moments chief.

The tide, relentless in its dance,
Creeps closer with each passing wave.
It smooths the marks of those who’ve walked,
Erasing what the feet engrave.

Some tracks run straight with purpose clear,
While others meander and roam.
Some large, some small, some side by side,
All seeking sun, sea, and home.

In these impressions left behind,
We glimpse the stories of a day.
Of lovers strolling hand in hand,
Of children lost in carefree play.

Yet as the ocean claims its shore,
These tales in sand cannot remain.
A clean slate for tomorrow’s steps,
Until the tides return again.
