Drowning in Stillness

In waters calm, without a ripple,
I sink beneath the placid surface,
No thrashing limbs, no gasping breath,
Just silent descent into the depths.

The world above, a blurred mirage,
Grows distant as I softly fall,
Its colors muted, sounds subdued,
In this liquid tomb of solitude.

No lifeline thrown, no rescue near,
For who can see my drowning here?
In waters still as polished glass,
Where turbulent emotions pass.

Lungs once filled with laughter’s air,
Now heavy with a mute despair,
Each heartbeat slows, a fading drum,
As I embrace the urge to succumb.

Light fades to an eerie glow,
In depths where joyous thoughts can’t grow,
And memories of brighter days,
Dissolve like salt in watery haze.

Friends and loved ones far above,
Unaware of this sea of unlove,
Where I float suspended, numb and cold,
My story left untold, unsold.

Time loses meaning in this place,
Where shadows dance with fluid grace,
Minutes, hours, days entwine,
In this stillness so divine.
