Blue Moon Cafe (The Witch Detective story)
Zara arrived at the Blue Moon Cafe, a quiet and cozy place for tea and scones. She didn’t see anyone who looked like they were waiting for her. She decided to call the number that sent her the message, but it went straight to voicemail. She left a message asking them to call her back or meet her at the cafe. She sat down at a table near the fireplace and ordered a chai tea. She noticed a man sitting at another table, reading a newspaper. He had dark hair, brown eyes, and a stubble. He looked handsome, but also bored. He glanced at her and smiled. She smiled back, but felt a strange sensation in her chest. She wondered if he was the one who contacted her.
She decided to find out. She got up from her table and walked over to the man. She smiled and said, “Hi, I’m Zara. Do you mind if I join you?”
The man looked surprised, but also amused. He said, “Oh, hi. I’m Nick. Sure, please sit down.”
Zara sat down across from Nick and said, “So, Nick, are you the one who sent me the email?”
Nick raised an eyebrow and said, “Email? What email?”
Zara said, “The email that asked me to meet you here at noon today.”
Nick shook his head and said, “Sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I didn’t send you any email.”
Zara frowned and said, “Are you sure? You’re not playing some kind of prank on me?”
