A Soul in Shadow
In darkness dwells my weary soul,
A prisoner of sorrow and pain.
The light of hope no longer whole,
And naught but grief remains.
The world around me fades to black,
As I wander through this endless night.
My heart, a shattered and broken pack,
Despairs in its lonely plight.
The stars above are lost in gloom,
The moon obscured by clouds of gray.
All beauty drowned in this endless tomb,
My soul forever in dismay.
No solace found in love or light,
No peace in laughter or song.
Only in the darkness of the night,
Can my soul find where it belongs.
So let me be, oh cruel daylight,
Let the shadows hold me tight.
For in the darkness, I find respite,
And my soul can finally take flight.
