A Pundamental Problem

Dave had a problem. He had a rare and incurable mental disorder that forced him to communicate only through puns. He could not say anything without making a wordplay, a joke, or a double meaning.

He did not know how or why it happened. He just woke up one day and realized that he could not speak normally. He tried to tell his wife, but all he could say was:

“Honey, I have some bad news. I’m feeling a bit punny today.”

She did not understand and thought he was joking. She laughed and said:

“Dave, you’re such a punster. You always crack me up.”

He tried to explain, but he only made things worse.

“No, really, I’m serious. I have a condition. It’s no laughing matter.”

She still did not get it and said:

“Dave, stop it. You’re killing me. You have a condition? What is it? A pun-demic?”

He groaned and gave up.

He decided to go to the doctor and see if he could get some help. He drove to the clinic and parked his car. He walked to the receptionist and said:

“Hello, I have an appointment with Dr. Smith. I’m here for a check-up.”

The receptionist looked at her computer and said:

“Okay, Mr. Dave. Please take a seat and wait for your turn.”

He nodded and sat down on a chair. He looked around and saw other patients waiting for their doctors. He felt nervous…
